Anyone With Experience?

I have a technical writing task coming up, and I am not sure if I should handle everything myself. While searching online, I came across technical writing agency. Has anyone here worked with an agency before? Did they understand the subject and explain things clearly? I would really like to hear about your experience, especially anything that surprised you. Honest advice would help me decide what makes sense for my project.
